##### Can anyone help with the 4.0 to 4.3 conversaion?
« on: December 23, 2005, 02:56:01 PM »
Hey all,I have a couple questions about applying to law schools. First of all, at my undergrad school, an "A" was 80-100,and it was a 4.0 on the scale, 65-79 was a B and a 3,etc. Now I'm wondering,if my school has credited me with a 4.0 GPA for the semesters for getting 4 grades of 82 for example, will the schools I apply to convert it to THEIR letter grades/points system,or accept it as is? Because I know some schools use A+, A-,B+ etc grades instead of just A,B,C,D.
Also, does anyone know how to convert from 4.0 to 4.3? What would a 3.73 be on a 4.3 scale? Thanks!

i can't speak authoritatively, but i've never heard of an admissions committee rescaling, so your 82 should be a 4.0.

i also don't think there's any conversion of a 4-point scale to a 4.3 point scale. a 3.73 is a 3.73. if there's some totally different scale, like york U's 9-point scale, then the GPA is recalculated from the letter grades, according to the formula on LSAC's website, where A+ is 4.33, A is 4, etc. but in the case of 4.0 vs. 4.3, a recalculation would yield the same result in any case.

Your transcript just says "A," not 82%, correct?  If so, it will just be counted as an A.  Just out of curiosity, are the classes at your UG really difficult?  At my UG, a 65 is a D.

Lucky you!
