I started out with the Kaplan book with the CD in the back and mainly concentrated on it just for the practice tests and to find out basic info like what the test structure is, etc. It was a good place to start, but what REALLY, REALLY helped me was borrowing a friend's copies of all the past LSATs that she bought from LSAC. I spent a lot more time practicing taking the tests than actually reading advice about how to do them.
