Chances at UAlberta

Hi, Guys Dumb_Jock here,

   I was hoping I could get some feedback about what my chances at UAlberta are. I just got my LSAT score 165.  My GPA is 3.5 last year, but this year I am in courses I don't like and I'm afraid I my be applying with a 3.3 or so I don't force my self to bull my way through my stupid fine arts pre-reqs. 

  I screwed up that acrheological site conditon with 8 9 and 10th centuries and lost 5 points right there. I/m scared to re-write though cause with classes in full swing I don't see how 'll study withour dropping the GPA.

 Do you think the 165 will do it for me?

165 is very competitive at U of Alberta.

Realize U of A will take your:

2nd year marks
3rd year marks
1st semester 4th year.

To get your GPA.  3.5 will get you in, 3.3 is a MAJOR drop and will decrease your chances from certain to "probable".

   I wish I had paid closer attention to that f-in game. I feel as if I uncharacteristically cracked under pressure. Now I don't have that "safe" feeling I was hoping for.  Are you re-writing in December. I am now leaning towards no. There is no gaurantee I'll get the 167-170 I averaged in practice and even if I did I don't know that the combined average would be worth it. Probably easiers and less stressful to focus on my grades eh?

  Do you know of anyone getting a rejection letter from U of A with a 165? Do you think if I call and ask what the LSAT average for applicants is looking like they'll tell me so I can better decide if I should re-write.

I normally comment but I have no information about UofA so I wouldn't be helpful.  However, I can tell you that a 165 puts you in good shape for the top Canadian schools, so UofA shouldn't be a problem.  If your GPA is competitive, you'll be fine.

U of A does give the lsat 70%.  However, they have very strict minimum requirements.  3.3 is pushing it.  3.5 and you're golden. 

I was told with my 3.7 GPA that i was "automatic" at 163.  3.5 might be automatic at 165...but not 3.3. 

I'd apply, you should be okay.
