Choosing the Right Law School / what do i do??? help!
« on: April 18, 2004, 12:28:33 PM »
hey all.

i have a dilemma, and i was hoping some of you might be able to help me out.  i have been accepted at american (#56) and at the university of minnesota (#19).  i live in dc right now and love it.  there are MANY reasons to stay, not the least of which are a boyfriend, friends, a job, and contacts.  would it be a complete mistake, do y'all think, to choose to go to american and stay in dc when i have an offer at a top twenty school in an extremely cold, unfamiliar, and far away place?

thank you for your insights!

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: im desperate...well almost
« on: April 18, 2004, 12:17:52 PM »
i understand your predicament.  with a 3.8 gpa from georgetown, i thought i would have my pick of good schools.  however, because i have a 161 on the lsat, i am waitlisted almost everywhere i applied.  i am still a legal resident of texas, and even though they take 80 percent of their class from in state, i was outright rejected.  anyway, i think i am going to be attending a school that i would have turned up my nose at before i took the lsat.  it has been VERY hard for me to accept that this is the fruition of 4 years of top grades, and i am sometimes quite ashamed of it.  however, at this point, i understand how tough the admission game has been this year, and i am just glad i am going to law school.  and i have lost my former academic snobbery.  if i have learned anything from this process, it is that i am no better than anyone else and am not entitled to go to a top school.  i am very excited about being a lawyer, and that is all that matters.

good luck!  i'm sure everything will turn out well for you in the end.  no matter where you go, if you do the best you can, i have no doubt you will be a successful lawyer.

hey.

i am on the waiting list for the part time program at gw.  i applied full time, got wait-listed, and the switched to part time.  unfortunately, i still haven't heard from the.  i have a 161 and a 3.8 (from georgetown).

as for other dc schools, i was rejected from georgetown and accepted to the full time day program at american.  i will probably attend there.

good luck to you!  i know that it's s tressful time, but i'm sure that it will all work out in the end!

Washington, D.C.!

(with an absentee shout out to everyone in Houston)

while they didn't accept me (with a 3.8 from their own institution...am not bitter), i know that georgetown favors its undergrads.  they have forty-six people in their first year class from gu right now, which, while not an overwhelming number, is certainly a significant one.

good luck!
