Choosing the Right Law School / Re: chapman openhouse?
« on: March 18, 2008, 03:11:59 PM »
still not sure.. right now I'm planning on putting my seat deposit down at Gonzaga (WA) because I got a scholarship there. But, I'm waiting on ASU and UNLV right now, and if I get in at either one of those then I will go there (ASU is my #1). I would have gone to Chapman if I had more financial incentive, just because cost of living is so damned high as is tuition... but, alas, they didn't offer me anything so I am withdrawing.

what does your status say? still in review?

I got the letter of acceptance only. I didn't get anything else but if I do I'll post the info here.

thanks, cirenos. you've been helpful!! btw, are you thinking of actually attending ASU?

At this point, i wouldn't assume you're accepted. Don't lose hope!
i'm sending my official withdrawal tomorrow, so that will free up a spot.

On American BBC today, the President of the Irish Americans Association said that he is very disappointed that St. Patrick's day has turned into a stereotypical (and sometimes negative) portrayal of the Irish.  Drunkenness was one of his complaints.  The other was when Pres. Reagan had a bunch of Midgets dress up as leprechauns and run around the White House and sit on his lap during a photo op.

Still, I hope you had fun.   ;)

oh wow, what a sight to see. and yes... i had fun. i completely forgot about ASU last night!

Also, ASU has not responded yet to my email asking about the "Welcome" email. I still plan on posting their response, if there even is one.

I find this all a little odd...I've been admitted as of Saturday the 15th when I got the letter in the mail. I never knew there was a status checker. I also never got this email that everyone is upset about. Good luck everyone, and don't worry, I'm seriously considering ASU and if/when I decide against it, I'll withdraw my name

Yeah, it seems as if anyone that was accepted up until this point did NOT received this email.. which doesn't inspire too much hope that it means anything. I'm assuming at this point that it means they are still deciding on those who did receive this email. Also, people who were rejected around the same time you were accepted received an apology email for getting the ASURITE email (which many, in fact, did NOT receive).
Just out of curiosity.. did ASU send you any information yet about setting up an ASURITE ID? Or did they just send you a letter of acceptance and that was it?

i just decided to get sloshed for st patty's instead of thinking about it.  ;)

SERIOUSLY!  What else was I supposed to infer from "Welcome to Arizona State"?

Does the FAQ really say that?  This is weird and annoying-although worth it if I am accepted.

haha, I agree 100% since ASU is my top school. they can torture me all they want as long as i get in. And yes, the FAQ does say that. However, since we can't receive emails to that address, is it really a valid email?
I think at this point the admissions committee is waiting to get seat deposits from the people they really want (those they've already informed of admission) and then will decide on us. Hopefully the email means we're in the next round.. since it seems that not everyone received it. I'll post their response to my email (i requested an explanation for the "welcome" email) when I receive it.

I just received that email too.  Why in the world would they give an email address without an acceptance?

to be cruel, it seems. I sent an email requesting an explanation for this email. I think that it was pretty irresponsible of them to send this out without explaining it. Other schools that have given me a user id have explained that it was only for specific reasons (i.e. to check statuses, update info, etc). ASU likes to torture us, especially since the subject of the email was "Welcome to Arizona State."

agreed. ASU seems to like messing with our heads.
