it has nothing to do with whatever school happens to be num 14 at the time, in this case GULC.  It's because these 14 schools have all been at one point in the top ten and are considered on a different level than the next tier (15-25/30).  I hope this helps...

Stotan - mine's doing the same thing... These status checkers are almost more trouble than they're worth (GULC still says 'complete' and I got my acceptance from them dated 11/12, Cornell's is telling everyone they've been deferred, etc.)

The LSN pages say the accepts were via email... You don't have acces to your email at work?

Law School Admissions / Re: UVA Resume?
« on: November 05, 2007, 01:53:34 PM »
I don't know which UVA you're applying to, but the University of Virginia's application specifically says "This information may be presented here, in an attachment to this application, or as part of a resume included with this application.  If applying electronically, you may use an electronic attachment."  That appears as the ONLY directions above the four lines you mention... I hope this is helpful to you and recommend that - in the future - you read the applications as you fill them out.

Included an offer for $20 to iTunes upon receipt of application...

Do you think you could ask him to call back another time?  What if you were taking a poop?

Eveman... I didn't go to an Ivy UG, but I think you're completely off-base.  It takes a lot more to get into and do well at an excellent undergrad than it does to 'have good soft factors like a well-written PS,' not to mention that everyone is going to have good LORs.  Attending and excelling at a strong undergrad shows you have what it takes to get into a good school and do the work - exactly what the law schools are looking for.  What could be more favorable than that?

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: W&L 1L Taking Questions
« on: October 31, 2007, 07:29:06 AM »
Truth - I don't know about the law school, but in general (no pun intended), there are not as many minorities on campus as you will find at other schools.  It's a sort of traditional, southern school, and minorities often self-select away from W&L.  HOWEVER, they are trying to fix the situation by providing scholarships and grants to minorities, and I saw a noticeable change during my 4 years there.  They now have chapters of historically black fraternities, and the school works hard to make sure everyone has the same opportunities/experience even though minorities are, well, in the minority.  I hope this helps.

NOTE WELL: This is ONLY MY EXPERIENCE FROM UNDERGRAD.  I cannot comment on the minority population at the law school, but I wanted to help as much as I could.

Sushi place highly overrated (and it isn't even that well 'rated' to begin with..)  Thanks for all the information.  I'm just finishing up submitting my apps, but if I don't get into any of my top choices (borderline #s) or off any waitlists, I'm going to be seriously considering going back to Lexington.  Can I ask what schools you also applied to/took W&L over?  I imagine that for most it's something like GW, Notre Dame, Emory, WUSTL, maybe Texas.  Is this about right?
