The battery only sticks out from the Dell if you get the giant 9-cell battery (which reportedly gives you 5+ hrs of use with wi-fi, max brightness, and Office running).  The standard 6-cell does not stick out, and, using the 9-cell as a guage, should still get you at least 3.5 hrs or so.  That's plenty for me, but if you want more like 6+ hours, you could get the 6-cell and an optional 6-cell modular-bay battery.  This config would get you something like 6-8 hrs of battery, but would not have any obtrusions.

Of course, there may be other reasons not to go with the Dell, but there are ways around the big 9-cell battery sticking out the front.

Thanks, I did not realize this.  6 cell would be fine for me, so maybe I will check out the Latitude.  I've heard they are much better than Dell's consumer models.

Not your posts, I guess.

My view: unless there's actually a problem with the computer, it's a bit silly to return it out of spite and replace it with a (generally) inferior brand.

imho.

Me: "I'd like to return this computer."

Lenovo Rep: "Certainly. May I ask why?"

Me: "For spite."

Lenovo Rep: "Spite?"

Me: "That's right. I don't care for your business practices."

Lenovo Rep: "I don't think you can return an item for spite."

Me: "What do you mean?"

Lenovo Rep: "Well if there was some problem with the computer. If it were unsatisfactory in some way, then we could do it for you, but I'm afraid spite doesn't fit into any of our conditions for a refund..."

Me: "That's ridiculous, I want to return it. What's the difference what the reason is."

Lenovo Rep: "Let me speak with the manager."

Manager: "What seems to be the problem?"

Me: "Well I want to return this computer and the rep asked me why and I said for spite and now the rep won't take it back."

Manager: "That's true. You can't return an item based purely on spite."

 :D

If I read your OP right, you will have been out of undergrad at least 3 years by the time you apply for law school, right?  In that case, they will probably put a little less sway in your UGPA and a little more sway in what kind of recommendations you can come up with from your work experience.

But the important part is the LSAT score.  If you scored 166-170, as you said you were doing, that will make up for a lackluster GPA at any Tier 2 school, and probably a fair amount of lower Tier 1 schools as well.

The shipping aspect is merely the last in a long line of problems.

Have you read any of this thread?

lol.

You're not happy with the shipping, therefore you're sending it back?

Logical.

So my computer finally shipped and is in town, but now I can't get UPS to deliver it.   :-\

Screw 'em.  Its just been one thing after the other, and at this point I wouldn't be happy with it even if it were the best computer on the planet.

So I'm just gonna wait for them to send it back to China and tell Lenovo to keep it.

Anybody have a recommendation for a different laptop?  Dell Latitude is not an option (I absolutely hate the way the batter is in the front of the computer).

That kind of LSAT score would get you into either of the Arizona schools.
