Financial Aid / Should I transfer or stay??
« on: April 17, 2008, 05:18:00 PM »
I want to do corporate/business law in a big law firm in NY or DC or BOSTON... (MAYBE, MAYBE CHICAGO)
I'm currently attending a T3 in NY
I have been admitted (EA transfer application) to WUSTL (Washington University in St. Louis   -   Top19 Us News Rankings).
If I remain at the T3 in NY, I'll be in the law review and top ~ 6/7/8/9/10% in my class (...... I HOPE!!!!! .....)

what should I do? should I transfer or remain here? (assuming that these two are the only possibilities I got)

Transferring / Yale & the "B" issue
« on: March 16, 2008, 02:58:28 PM »
From the website:

"Transfer credit will be considered only for work done at U.S. law schools that are approved by the American Bar Association and only if the student maintained a weighted average grade of not less than B (or the equivalent) for all work in that school."

What does it mean? that of you got less than a B in a class you can not apply or that they will not give you credits for that class or that your GPA must be at least a B?

Job Search / Civil Court law clerk...
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:05:08 PM »
I have been offered to work during the summer for a judge of the civil court (jurisdiction over cases up to $25,000) as his law clerk.. it's an unpaid position, but money is not a problem (so far)

What are your thoughts?
is it worth doing it?

if you want to send out resumes and cover letters in these days, do you have to write something specific about your grades? I mean, we going to know our grades in January.... do we have to say something like: "..I'll send you my grades later" :P ... ?

PS: any other advice?

Transferring / EA and T3
« on: December 08, 2007, 08:44:47 PM »
Since this forum has been very "quiet"  :-X recently, here are my questions: ???

1) which schools have an Early Admission program? (other than GULC and WUSL)

2) what are the (realistic) chances to transfer from a T3 to a T14 with a 150ish LSAT? :-\

Thanks and good luck with your finals!!! ;)

Pursuing an LLM / LLM and teaching after T3 JD
« on: June 19, 2007, 05:34:35 AM »
If I graduate from a T3 law school in the top 10% and take an LLM in a top 14 law school, how many chances I got to end up teaching law? (I have a foreign B.A.)

will my T3 JD affect the chances to get admitted into a T14 LLM and then to teach?

Current Law Students / Summer School abroad during 1L summer
« on: June 18, 2007, 05:01:20 AM »
what do you think about the many (and often very interesting) summer schools abroad during the 1L sumemr? (I saw there are excellent law schools that host good summer schools, especially in international law...)

1) are those who go to summer schools the same that didn't manage to get a summer job at law firms?

2) how important is attending a summer school abroad? are law firms "glad" to hire who did it?

3) any other comment or opinion?

Transferring / easy (for you) question about transferring
« on: April 29, 2007, 01:15:50 AM »
What if the law school I apply to tranfer to has a deadline aerlier than the time my law school sends out rank (and/or grades)?
Can I submit my application (maybe through the early action) and then send them my rank and 2semester grades later?
Is that possible even in the early action process?

how do you usually do it?
