Law School Admissions / Re: LSAC forum in Boston

I'm definitely going. It's less than a half-hour from where I live. Don't think I'd drive four hours to go tho. From what I've read/heard most of the info you get there you can find out through your own research. Of course, I'm hoping to get some fee waivers though that may be unlikely since I work full time. Oh well..

OT: But why in the hell did Trump fire Pamela last night? Yeah, she's a biatch, but she got those girls to actually complete a task without any cat fighting and backstabbing. What the hell is going on with Trump this season? First Stacie J and now he fires the most capable woman? That little yappy lawyer girl should go. She's annoying and she talks too much. Ugh! I'm thinking of boycotting! That man's messin up my Thursday nights.  >:(

Have any of you ever written a book? I'm getting ready to write one about the market.

HBCU: I've written two but they were both fiction. I think you should go for it.

Law School Admissions / Re: it's over... October 2004 LSAT

I had three LR sections; two before the break and one after. The first one was absolutely brutal! Someone please tell me it was experimental.
The rest of the test was about average. I finished the games section, which is something that I was rarely able to do during practice tests. THe RC passages were much easier than some of the most recent. All in all not a bad test but my head is still pounding from that first LR section.

Law School Admissions / Re: When was your "road to damascus"?
« on: September 29, 2004, 08:44:56 PM »
Alright, so some of you have obviously known you were headed to law school for some time:

1)  When did you first tinker with the idea of going to law school?

2)  When did you fully committ to the idea?

3)  What would you do if law were not an option?

1. Eight months ago when I finally decided I'd had enough of my present career but needed to switch to something that paid an equal or higher sum of money.

2. After I started reading this board early this summer I started to get into the whole idea of actually going to law school, studying for the LSAT, getting finances together etc.

3. I'd stay at my current job for the money and probably end up going nuts in a year or two.  :-\

I'm gonna hold a seminar on how to spot the issue cause nobody got what I was saying.

Somehow this turned into a white women v. black women thing.  I don't give a @#!* what color they are, I'm still not getting married.  Women in the '04 are scandalous. PERIOD.

I'm not just talking about 2 or 3 females here or there.  I'm talking about a scientific gene pool study here.  Complete with a standard deviation and all that *&^%.  Between me and my partners back home, we've dated our fair share of ladies and have talked with partners who have dated their fair share of ladies who have talked to their partners who have dated their fair share of ladies...

...we all come up w/ the same conclusion.  Either get married early on while you're still young & stupid or just forget about it.  After I done witnessed all this scandalous behavior its gonna take a lot of brainwashing to honestly beleive that a woman can hold up her end of the bargain when it comes to being in a relationship.  [a gasp across the room as people stare in awe]  Yeah that's right I said it damnit.

Of course, these were not any class act bunch of females like we have on this board, just the other 99.9% of the female population between the ages of 18-35.

You sound exactly like my brother did just a few months before he met his wife. Word of warning: Some sista's gonna hook you some day and drag your stubborn butt to the altar and there won't be a thing you'll be able to do about it.  ;D

Gosh...white men. I dunno. They are okay I guess. Chocholate or caramel is my flavor of choice hahahahaha. If all the men of color died out, I suppose I would date a white guy. White men are Plan B if Operation Marry a Black Man fails. When I see a black woman with a white man I have give her props because she isn't afraid to explore new terriory or take control of her happiness.

LOL!! I've dated white guys in the past and in public I would always get these looks of wonder from other black women -- like I was doing something so brave. I was like, Huh??? Just wasn't a big deal to me. (Side note: I lived in a New England town where there was very little local color) Some brotha told me a few years ago that he could never take me seriously cuz I'd been to the "other side." I was like, Oh well, *shrug.* But my fiance is black -- Caribbean-born like myself. Wouldn't want to deal with the stress of society's issues for the rest of my life tho' so I'd be hesitant to marry a white guy.

And Ms. Jay does have an awesome smile.  ;D

Law School Admissions / Re: Poll: GMU PT or GULC PT?
« on: September 29, 2004, 10:30:49 AM »
Hey, I'm applying to GULC too. I'd say go for the bigger name, it will take you much further in your career down the road. Well, maybe not, but it will at least give you more options.

How come no one's mentioned GWU's part time program?

And Biting Panther, I hope you meant that you're taking the LSAT in Dec. -- not Nov. ;D

The Series 7 is the stockbrokers exam. You have to take th 63 as well. The 7 is a six hr long exam that covers bonds, stocks, mutual funds, interest rates, NASD rules, etc. stock market *&^%. Anyway, it's some hard *&^%. But, it a different kinda exam because they don't ask if worldcome is next to enron, microsof, and IBM; will msft go bankrupt if ibm trades before wcoeq at 9:30...stupid *&^%.

Well, if you don't pass the first time you can take it again, and it won't be held against you.  So, there's much less pressure there, unless your taking it at some derivatives trading desk.

Well, it depends on the firm you are with. It's def. possible for you to get fired if you fail the 7 dude. Most of the big brokerage firms will only allow you to take the test one time.

Are you guys watching the Apprentice? What do you think about the new crew? Why did that sista start to act crazy? "Hey guys! Over here! What's going on with you!??" WTF?

haha.. i was watching that.  I was wondering the wtf was wrong with her.  Omarosa was already a bad enough rep on the show.  I hated that female dog.

Yeah that girl just freaked the hell out!! That was so weird. Man, I hope she doesn't turn into Omarosa II. Although that Pamela chick, the one who led the men, seems to be one who'll be the ice queen/biatch of the season. I love that show!
