Yeah.  Dasadder and I just got our offer today.  Phase III, patio (must have for grilling), move-in 3rd week of July.  f-in A.

when did you put in your request for the apartment?

I know you just finished 1L, but do you know if it's harder to get a NY job instead of DC?  did everyone who wanted one get one?  (or internship)

1. are you in-state?  what do you think of the quality of your classmates?

2. how hard is it to get onto journals?

and

3. what are you doing this summer?

So for those of you with more initiative than me (read: the entire class of 2010): how do you give yourself an email alias? I've joined the UVA network on facebook, but rather than those stupid random sequence email addresses we get, I want to customize it. Also, how do you then change facebook to reflect your alias?

okay I haven't even gotten that far!  I've taken the test and received my password...but now what?  I can't find where to log-in to the e-mail...I logged into netbadge but what's the email site?

found everything!  here's the site for an alias: https://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/email/aliasreq/aliasreq.html

To ArthurKing and Mantis,

I would say that the cross-disciplinary focus of Penn although present at some schools is not at all of them, Penn obviously prides itself in the breadth of dual degrees and certificates that it provides and only one school that I visited matched this (Michigan). Personally, I enjoyed Philadelphia a LOT! I thought it was like living in a large city where I could have lots of fun, not go broke and not get overwhelmed unlike NYC. I visited UVA and it was a great school. I was at the same ASW as AlphaBusey, but we came away with very different impressions. I thought UVA was icnredibly isolated, and believe me I know I study in Ithaca. Also, UVA had a very fratty feel which I did not like but others might and the students did not seem to be as enthusiastic or connect as the students at Penn or Mich. Also, I'd point out something which is not necessarily important to most people and doesn't necessarily reflect on UVA but more on its location but when a question was asked about racial tensions at UVA the students seemed to be at a loss of words and didn't really know how to answer the question. I found that to be quite revealing. But for full disclosure, UVA had one of the best clinical offerings I saw in terms of size and variety.

I did not visit CLS or Chicago so I can not talk about them, I just know what I've heard but that has been mentioned already. I did visit NYU, and can say that I would not like to study in NYC. The students just don't seem to be as connected.

Finally, I would really encourage you to visit Penn and talk with Dean Post. I visited it twice and was just so incredibly impressed. It is a beautiful school in a large city with great job prospects and has been getting way better at clerkships. They are sending two to SCOTUS this year (don't quote me on it, though).

Good luck on your decision, and hopefully I'll meet you at Penn.

See, I disagree with the bolded.  I visited UMich, UChi and UVa (and am going there) and I thought that UVa stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of student collegiatlity.  Students at UMich and UChi loved their schools, but UVa students were infatuated with their school

I got the package.

did it come today?  was it an e-mail or letter?  I didn't get anything about the computer bundles...

Bundle: I like it because I've got bad luck with computers and I like the idea of the school being able to replace anything when it breaks.

Hardest year ever: They overenrolled the past 2 years. So they're cutting back this year. I guess you guys should be honored.

wooooo yay us  ;D

Did anyone else get a mailing from the UVA ITC about student computer offerings? They've got some Dells and some Apples that are offered and supported through UVA. It seems like it's geared towards freshmen, but it looks like it might be a decent option for those of us who aren't into the Dell Law Bundle thing, so I'm wondering if it's actually an option for law students or if they sent it to me by mistake or something...

I think I remember Goodfella recommending the bundle...goodfella, you around?   ::)
