I got a letter from UT today saying that they are disbanding the waitlist.  I'm disappointed but not surprised.  I thought it was interesting that they kept me on the WL this long but then dropped me without waiting for possible no-shows during the start of classes in just a few weeks from now.  Anyone else get accepted from the WL recently or receive this letter?

Based on lsn, it seems that they may have placed a lot of people on their waitlist.  I received their letter today asking if I would like to remain on the WL.  Sure I'll stay on it.  It makes me think of a poker game where I've got long odds holding a pair of 2's but feel like I should stay in the game to see if anything develops.

This waitlister's stats are 164 and 3.55, in-state.  I'm remaining hopefull for everyone.

Update:  I received another letter today that is substantially the same as the June letter.  The only difference in the body of the letter is that planned Committee review has changed from "the first week of July" to "the first week of August".  I'm not optimistic, but I appreciate them keeping in touch.  Seeing as how the Letters of Intent to Enroll were due during in late June, and tuition is due in mid-late August, what new information do they expect to have between now and the first week of August?  Perhaps responses to offers made to others on the WL?

Has anyone else received this letter?  Has anyone been accepted from the WL?

I haven't heard anything as yet from UT.  Hopefully they will be making some decisions in the next couple of weeks.  One individual on the xoxohth board who was on the WL with supernatural numbers was offered admission a week or so ago.  As LSN seems to be down, I'll post developments here.

tbone, thanks for the info.  Two questions:

1)  You mentioned that the initial deposit was $200.  Is there another deposit required?  If so when, if not, when is tuition due?  Again, I'm just trying to get a feel for when things may happen at the admissions office.

2)  Did you get an idea of why the admissions office thought that this year's treatment of the waitlist may be different from the last two?

I'm really curious to know details of UT's schedule of deposit dates and amounts.  If those accepted only have a $100 deposit down at this point, it may just mean that they haven't made up their mind.  I'm also curious what the Letter of Intent comprises, and if it has to be accompanied by mo' money.

Overall, it looks like UT has waitlisted relatively few applicants, especially when compared to, say USC.  I read somewhere that historically UT takes 25 - 50% of their waitlisted applicants, but I'm wondering if that will be drastically reduced this year.

I received a letter today from UT which says that due to the number of students who have made enrollment deposits, the Committee has decided not to extend additional offers of admission at this time.  It goes on to say that the Admission Committee will review the number of admitted students who have submitted their Letter of Intent to enroll during the first week of July.

Can anyone tell me how much UT asked for in terms of application deposits?  Is a further application deposit required concurrent with the Letter of Intent to enroll?  When I read, it seems like UT is nowhere near the first choice for most admitted students.  I'm just wondering how much skin they have in the game at this point.
