Studying for the LSAT / Concentration Tips
« on: December 03, 2004, 02:22:52 PM »
Does anyone have any concentration tips for the exam?  I tend to get distracted and I am wondering what tips/tactics you all use to stay focused despite people in the exam room who may be a little less than silent.

I've taken it before, and I am taking it tomorrow.  It is a long exam, but the good thing is that you are busy the whole time, so it is sort of like "over before you know it" in that sense.  But it can also be hell (I am more prepared this time around so I'm hoping it will be a gentler hell).  I think the worst part is sitting there right before the test starts...for a half hour or so while they take the fingerprints and such....that seems to take forever and does nothing to help the anxiety.

If it's anything like the last time I took the LSAT, I'll be popping the prescription migraine meds....

Then later going out to dinner with friends and watching movies...

imitrex?

I wish...I'll be taking midrin....

Hi Brhino692,
In addition to Capital, I applied to Ohio Northern, University of Cincinnati, and University of Dayton.  I was waitlisted at Ohio Northern and admittedly did not follow up with them on additional LOR's or PS's (I had a family emergency and had decided 2004 would not be my year to start law school).  So, I ended up being rejected, but then again, I did nothing to prevent that.  I was put on 'hold' at Dayton but had sent in the same LOR's and PS's that I had Capital.  They rejected me as well.  Cincinnati rejected me flat out, no waitlists.

Brhino692,
I applied to Capital for last year's admission cycle.  I had a 3.35 UGPA, 3.48 MBA, 147 LSAT.  I was waitlisted but supplied 3-4 additional LORs and a new PS to try and get off the waitlist.  They told me my best chance was to retake the LSAT.  I ended up getting rejected at the end of the cycle :(  Needless to say, I'm retaking the LSAT in December and hoping for better results in this application cycle.

Good luck!

26 now, considering I get in for 2005, I'll start LS at age 27.  Graduate with a J.D. at age 30.

I'm taking it in December.  I don't have much choice though...my work scheduled a major systems upgrade for the entire first weekend of October.  So I will be at work during the Oct. LSAT.  :(

Law School Admissions / Re: It's almost May...What's up!!!???

Hi Shaynewilliam!  My LSN profile is http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com/display.php?user=want2go2lawschool.  I applied at Cincinnati ("dream school" considering my LSAT score), Northern KY, Capital, Dayton, and Ohio Northern.  I considered taking the June LSAT, but due to some family emergencies I haven't been able to get things together, as life is a little hectic from now until the end of the summer :(  Plus, in the back of my mind, I keep hoping a school will take me and I won't have to endure the pain again :)

Where did you apply, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm definitely in the same boat.  I applied 5 places, have recieved decisions 3 of those places -- 2 dings, 1 waitlist.  The 4th school is supposed to get back to me by 5/1, and the 5th one has not acknowledged my existence since I applied in Feb.  In any case, it's almost May and I am not accepted anywhere.  May 1st, I start studying for the October LSAT again :(  I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

Hang in there, and good luck!!   :)
