Current Law Students / Re: Hey Ladies . . . Where do you buy your suits?
« on: February 28, 2009, 08:05:00 PM »
I think the local boutiques are your best bet... of course price is an issue but to use a cliche you get what you pay for.  The suit is an investment.  Buy a high quality suit or two and get them taylored... It makes the suit look 1000 times better.  I bought one suit from Franco's fine clothier and another from a local boutique called Frances Khan in Virginia.  It ran me a pretty penny but you have to dress to impress right?

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 3.99/166 T14?
« on: November 12, 2008, 03:45:59 PM »
I'm a chemistry/philosophy double major with a tough undergrad curriculum and a high GPA. The LSAT score isn't quite there, though. Do I have a shot at T14 at this point in the admissions cycle?  Where should I apply?

I agree... 7-14 is a good bet.  I had numbers almost identical to your own and was able to get a UVA acceptance letter without going on the waitlist so anything is possible!!!  Good luck and don't be afraid to apply the worst they can say is no!

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: To any UVA Law Students?
« on: September 03, 2008, 09:02:11 AM »
I am a current UVA law student and I was able to get in with a 4.0 and 166 LSAT.  I will say that I had an advantage of being instate but it is possible.

I had to make the choice between a 96K scholarship from Emory and UVA with no scholarship and instate tuition (5K a year) and I decided to go to UVA and I love it.  I had a really long talk with career services about accumulating 160K in debt and how well I would be able to pay it off and they put my mind at ease.

By the way I prefer mixed drinks to beer and I also suck horribly at softball and ... but everyone is still very supportive.

So how is this "breaking news" if the video was from April 5th 2007 ???

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Law School Shirts

At the UVA Law bookstore they have a shirt that says: "Virginia Law Women" on the front and on the back it says:

"Become the lawyer you mother always wanted you to marry."

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Drawbacks to December LSAT?
« on: August 13, 2008, 02:14:41 PM »
I took the December LSAT last year and I thought my cycle went pretty well.  The biggest drawback I noticed was less fee waivers than other who had similar numbers to myself.

I would suggest that you start filling out all your apps and have your application profile completed and ready to send off when you get you LSAT score back.

I would agree with a previous poster that says you are in compitition for the few remaining spots so expect to get waitlisted at some target schools that match up with your LSAT.

Law School Admissions / Re: AHUM STILL WAITING...

Duke, Penn, and UNC

I was waitlisted in late march at UIUC and so I sent a letter withdrawing from their waitlist.  Yesterday I received a info packet saying congrats and an e-mail saying congrats on your acceptance to UIUC.

I'm guessing they didn't get my letter... lol

I'm still waiting on Duke...  :'(

Law School Admissions / Re: UNC -- Why they are slow
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:24:20 AM »
I have three friends who all received acceptance e-mails during the last week of March.  The rest of us should be receiving rejection letters pretty soon.

I realize that out of state is competitive but what kind of numbers do you have to have to throw your name into the mix?  I was really hoping to hear from them and hopefully even get offered some $$, but the longer I wait the less I even expect to get it in much less money lol.

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Emory ASW Review [Long]
« on: April 08, 2008, 06:11:24 AM »
I believe that even thugh Emory has shown me the money I'm going to be going with UVA at this point.  After seeing both schools and touring both campuses and attending both ASW's I really think that this would be the right choice.

Excellent choice. Good luck.

Thanks, I know all of you will definitely love Emory!!!
