I am by no means an expert, but I think the prestige is in the region too (I know not 100%). The best advice I have been given, and am doing, is try to go where you want to practice. I do not think the "prestige" will make up for your ability to succeed at the school, cost, all those other personal factors. Also, there may be some value in networking in the community, and of course this would be best if that community is the one you want to work in. For me, there is no chance in hell of me wanting to work out east or in BC, so Alberta is my hope.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: If you did not get your score-check now

As I mentioned in another thread, I STILL have not got an email, but my score was posted on Friday. Did you all just not get it in email, or were you checking LSAC too?

well did you finish? If you finished, I do not think so much, but if you missed 4 questions, then yes. How often when you finish, do you take the time and change anwsers? I know for me, I maybe changed an answer 3 or 4 times in 30 prep tests.

Hmm, some interesting things there actually. Wonder what is with the huge jump from 00-01 to 01-02?

Go here to get an idea of what marks you need to get into Canadian schools:

Most schools have a grid to help you figure it out.

With alot of prep and two writings, the fact of the matter is we are getting closer to this being a true score.

I second the sentiment that you should try to get in this cycle, if not, re-write, and work for a year to save money to pay for it anyhow.

Just looking at the charts and such I think you stand a great chance. As a mature student, it is supposed to be easier to get in (per se) from what I gather. Those marks let you get into alot of places as a regular applicant. At least U of A.

Can a mature applicant apply as a regular applicant?

I truly believe that in Canada, all Law schools are good, and your placing in the class is more important than the school. There are just too many variables with too few schools for a smart employer to out too much weight into the school vs success in school.

Law School Admissions / Re: GPA Trend

Hmm, I think this will hurt you actually. Adcomms will see you as a quiter, and nobody likes  a quitter.

In all seriousness though, I do not think anybody knows the weighting of upward trends, but we know that they are looked at positively. This said, you changing programs to something that you could obviously do better in is a bit different anyways. I think that they will see this and understand what is going on.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Retake advice, weighing chances.

Well, you need to read all the threads about retaking here, as the advice is usually applicable to a number of situations.

Why did you score below your test average? Did you score below your recent test range? How much below your average? Why will things be different this next time around? Are your averages accurate? Do you write with very strict timing in test like environments?

IDK, I read all these threads about retaking, and it seems that most people do not consider that we sometimes are what we are. Not everybody will be an Olympian no matter how hard they train. Some people always do worse on the big day.

I do for school, not really into paying for rent etc...This is where I am from, so. After I am done, who knows, but I think I would like to stay none the less really. I like it here, as un-cool as that is to say.
