Transferring / Re: Columbia v. NYU
« on: July 23, 2007, 04:19:45 AM »
I ended up getting in to Harvard Law School and will attend this fall.  So this topic/debate is done...at least for me.  I'll be turning down my acceptance from NYU Monday, and hopefully opening up a spot for one of y'all.

Good luck!

I think if you have a deadline, then a call is a good idea to let them know.  I told Harvard I had a deadline Friday (true, I did, and don't lie because they ask what school), and Harvard said they'd make a note on my file.  48 hours later I got a phone call from Harvard accepting me.  Maybe they would've called anyway that day, who knows?

Good luck everyone!

Yeah, the undergrad record proves they don't care.  Admissions office even told me people misconstrue that sentence on their website.  But yeah, my 1L year made up for my BS record in college!  I also have really good work experience, so that probably helped.

Transferring / HELP! Unaccredited Tier7 or Yale Law School?!
« on: July 17, 2007, 10:09:57 AM »
What do I do everyone?  I'm number 1 in my class, and law review at South Fork Eastern Law School in Maui, Hawaii, unaccredited but way fun, and now I've been accepted at Yale Law School and I don't know what to do?  I'm at the top of my class so I'll probably have opportunities here at South Fork, HELP!  Do you think BIGLaw or SCOTUS would rather top of the class?  I need everyone's advice on this one.

In at both, your thoughts on which, and why?  I'm leaning toward NYU (better area, amazing school, happens to be ranked higher but either way top5 school).

I'm not sure yet but my school is pretty regional and I think going to a top5 school can open a lot more doors especially down the road in terms of connection and prestige. To clerk, to go into business or switch firms. Still waiting to hear from harvard columbia and Stanford.
