Law School Admissions / retirement
« on: October 02, 2004, 06:14:52 PM »
Hey all, I'm retiring from the board! No, not to start law school, but my fourth year at uni. And now that I'm returning, I'm pushing all this stuff out of my head to concentrate on Finals. Retook the LSAT today - I feel pretty good about it, but then anything beats last time! I'll be back to tell you how it went (not that it's that interesting to anyone) and to see about you guys. You can female dog about the niceness all you like, but since I'm going I'll ignore it: I have loved this site and I know you're all going to some amazing schools and that pretty soon those acceptance letters will start appearing. We're a pretty talented bunch, huh? ZAP and his cool posts, Lexy's great repliques, Matt's amazing logic skills, Pooky's general coolness, Ruskie's support and drive, Noell's avatars, DOWNY... well, what can i say? And Kollesch and Calguy and all the people I'm forgetting to tell how much I like...Mukhia...inthesun, cho etc etc.
I for my part am still applying to Boalt, but I've pretty much decided to do a BA in law at Oxford and see where I am in two years....
Anyway, I've benefitted a lot from this site, made great friends etc. and I want to thank you all for being an awesome bunch.
I wish you all a ton of luck with the apps and with law school. And if anyone has any questions about the UK then pm me. Or pm me anyway.
Keep rocking.

Sorry that title is so screwed up, with abbreviations and omitted words but it wouldn't have fitten on otherwise.
Anyway, ppl often say that if you jump uo 8 points on thge LSAT, Columbia will look at the higher score, or Cornell if you jump up ten. One hears these things, but where do they come from? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. I'm two hours away from the LSAT. It's not coincidental that I'm asking.

Law School Admissions / I'm off!
« on: September 05, 2004, 11:27:23 AM »
I'm off to San Francisco in the morning! Delta from London to Cincinnati, then connection to SF. So I won't be around for ten days, until the 16th. I'm writing this to tell you that I will miss LSD and am  :( at the prospect of missing out on what goes on here. So when I start a 'catchup' thread on my return, remember the highlights to relay to me, ok?
See you soon!

Law School Admissions / Putting a photo up

Why can't I do this? Every time I try to upload my own, I choose it etc and it shows on the side of the icon, then press update, nothing actually changes. What to do?

Incoming 1Ls / Has anybody got a palm pilot?

I'm considering getting one, but don't know if it's worth it. Which is why I want to ask you guys: how useful do you find yours, and which brands/ models do you recommend?
I'm sick of my tired filofax (though I do love them) and think that law school might call for something different and better (?).
So what do you all think?

Tons of paper on my desk. Everything printed out (apart from the  app itself). I know no paperclips. But should we staple the ps together, or not? And the resume, if it's 2pgs long? I'm worried one of the pages will go missing! Are we supposed to attach these things to our files in any way? I bet a ton of stuff gets lost every year...

Law School Admissions / Who can help?
« on: August 31, 2004, 12:04:04 PM »
Hello fellow LSders.

As most of you know by now, I'm only applying to Boalt and, as my name suggests, I am an international applicant who cannot use LSACD. Yes, I know, I have groaned and moaned about this for ages, and I'm sorry. But bear with me for now. It really is stressful applying from abroad, not being able to apply for financial aid yada yada yada.
Now, I'm flying over to SF to take a look at Boalt on Monday, and it would help me a lot to see the application before I go so that if questions arise (which they will) I can bring them up when I'm there. Of course, I can't access the app because they haven't put it online and I cant use LSACD.

So, could anyone send me a pdf copy? I would be very grateful indeed! Just PM me if you could.

Thank you all for keeping me sane and being great,

Law School Admissions / The 'we love Cooley (and mean it)' thread
« on: August 26, 2004, 02:44:39 PM »
Because I do!
I think it's a great opportunity for non-standardised test inclined people and those with tight schedules. I think it's great that people won't give up to fulfil their ambitions. Seeing as law forms always say they want people who think outside the box, I think it's great that Cooley students don't put themselves into a box and look beyond rankings and what some silly 20-somethings have to say. They are determined to succeed and so they will. C'mon guys. we've had our fun. Let's give it up for Cooley.....!!!!

Is it? Cos if so, I'm screwed. Even if by some miracle I do get into Boalt.
