Law School Admissions / Honors thesis
« on: March 06, 2007, 11:11:09 PM »
I wrote about my as-of-then unformed honors thesis in my PS for law school. I knew what I wanted to write about and I was pretty excited to write it. Now that I'm doing my research, though, I'm finding it's not as exciting as I thought. I might change my mind once I start writing the damn thing (yes, it's very late) but I'm starting to debate whether to do it or not. If I decided to drop it, I have to tell the law schools I got into, right? Do you think they'd drop me because of it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

General Off-Topic Board / Long-distance relationships
« on: February 11, 2007, 03:47:11 PM »
Anyone going long-distance with law school? My boyfriend's going to med school, and it looks like even if we're on the same coast, we'll be flying distance. I'm pretty optimistic, but have any of you been in long-term long-distance relationships? Share stories, worries, etc.

Choosing the Right Law School / How do I respond to a professor's email?
« on: January 30, 2007, 10:55:27 AM »
I got a nice personal email from a professor at a prospective school about my interest in criminal law.  I'm very interested in studying the topic, but I don't know a damn thing about it.  How do you respond to these sorts of emails?  Are you expected to respond or are these just friendly overtures?  He did mention that his son graduated from my school and asked if I knew him, so I feel like I should respond. I suppose I could just thank him for contacting me and ask general questions. What's the etiquette here?

Law School Admissions / Resending transcript
« on: January 23, 2007, 03:20:39 PM »
I went complete with Columbia and Yale last month. These are the only two I haven't heard back from yet. Is it worth resending my transcript? Last quarter I got a 4.0, declared a minor, and got my honors status approved. I had a strong transcript already, though. Would resending just annoy them? Sorry if this sounds self-congratulatory. It's an honest question.

I guess acceptances are rolling in and I'm getting nervous...granted I only went complete in December, but ayyy, commencing neurotic mail checks.

Choosing the Right Law School / Harvard or Stanford?
« on: January 22, 2007, 05:29:20 PM »
I'm still waiting on Yale, but should that fall through, I have this little dilemma to deal with. I'm from California, Stanford student now, and I love it here. That said, I feel like I should get out. What do you all think? Where would you go?
