Transferring / Transferring from lower to tier to top 15?
« on: December 05, 2012, 11:09:51 AM »
Is this possible?

I received 2 of the highest grades on the only two assignments we have gotten back, and I am feeling pretty confident about final exams.

I want to start thinking about transferring, but im not sure if i am getting my hopes up. My school is the bottom of tier 2, and a lateral move won't really be worth it to me. I like my school, but if i could get into a top 15 i would obviously be out of there in a second.

I know that most law schools say first year grades are paramount but i wonder if the top 15 still focuses on undergrad as well. If thats the case my undergrad was more than rocky, and my lsat was mediocre at best.. Im wondering if that they will take that into account.

Any advice would be helpful.

Choosing the Right Law School / How is Loyola New Orleans campus?

I am visiting soon just curious, how their facilities are. New library? Is the law school just one building?

I read somewhere that your student loans shouldn't exceed what you expect to make your first year after graduating. I.E. You should only allow yourself $40,000 worth of debt if you expect your starting salary to be $40,000.00

Between the articles, this forum, another forum I am on.. all I keep hearing is about how I will end up in debt without a job.

I have no other choice to attend a 4 tier at this point, and I am pretty confident that I will be able to transfer out.. that is my plan, but this is the rest of my life and I am about to get into a lot of debt and be thrown into a not great job market in 3 years.. I really don't want to regret ignoring everything I have been hearing.

But I honestly do want to be an attorney more than anything, and have always wanted to.

I was under the impression the law school was significantly cheaper than other schools, the website says $28,000 for in state applicants... that doesn't sam so great.

Do they usually offer a lot of scholarships?

Do these get sent to everyone, or just select people. I am going to do it tomorrow, but I never heard of anything like it before. Anyone do it?
