A mentor sent me this book as a send off for law school and it is amazing.  Every page has just tons of common sense advice on how to be a great lawyer, most particularly in a large law firm.  He  includes advice about how to write a good memo, which verbs to use when discussing cases, how to get the most out of your secretary, how to be useful to a senior partner, etc.  It is a small, short guide, not unlike Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" but for new lawyers and law students.

I hadn't seen it recommended or mentioned anywhere, so I thought I would pass it along.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / GW Admitted Portal?
« on: March 20, 2006, 07:46:57 AM »
So I got an email saying I was accepted to GW and the admissions packet would follow in the mail.  Then I got an email saying that I was about to miss the Admitted Students event - which I received no notification of.  Following up, there is an amitted students web portal, but Admissions refused to give me any information other than it exists.  They only said to allow 2 weeks to receive my admissions packet.

I have seat deposits due at some schools in two weeks!  If they have a web portal, that may allow me access to SOME information prior to accepting another school.  Do any of you know anything about how to access this info?

I am really frustrated by their response.  It is the only acceptance that *feels* like a rejection.  :-\
