Why aren't they just called notes?

Is there something to differentiate them from normal note taking, or do law schools just feel like using a special term for themselves?

sorry if this has been beat to death already.  I'm waitlisted at all the schools above (except UVA) and would just like to have an answer ready if/when they call.

I just got off the UVA waitlist, and was wondering if theres a reason to stay on the others.  I'm assuming im not gonna get money from any of these schools.  Btw, I want to live/practice in nyc, boston, or d.c., and i might get into patent law (not sure... if not, some kind of big law).  I would prefer living in the northeast (not a fan of the heat), but not wed to it.

I feel like UVA is good enough to withdraw from Cornell and GULC (due to placement and prestige)... Anyone disagree?

However, I think I would strongly prefer Penn to UVA (mainly b/c of location), and just moderately prefer Mich over UVA.  Can anyone point out any big pro/cons?

Choosing the Right Law School / Phone Call
« on: May 09, 2006, 06:53:45 AM »
I just got a voicemail from Jason W. Trujillo, asking to call back.  I'm on UVAs out-of-state priority waitlist.

Is this deffinetely going to be an acceptance?  ...or might it be a little interview, in which case i should prepare a bit (go over my material) before i call back?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Cornell WL

I was just looking at LSN... and no one got off the waitlist last year, and only 1 person the year before  :o

I know LSN isnt everyone, but those are quite depressing stats.

does this help at all, or is it a waste of time / annoyance to the school?

Choosing the Right Law School / BU Hold?
« on: March 16, 2006, 02:41:46 PM »
i called BU admissions asking for a status check, and it seems im on 'hold' (i didnt get a letter or email telling me this).  I wasnt even aware that BU had a hold status (judging from lsn).  But the wierd part was the person i spoke to said she had some positive news, and then told me it was hold. and she kind of hinted that it was good news, but told me to wait till i got an actual letter.. I know its better than a waitlist or rejection... but i wouldnt really say a hold good news (at a school i didnt consider a big reach)?

maybe its a BU internal status, that they have before they can actually accept someone (like one admissions person puts the applicant on hold, and passes it off to another admissions person to get them accepted)? i'm sure im reading way to much into this. has anyone else called BU and been told they were on hold?

arg, this wait is killing me.

edit: can a moderator move this to the 'Where should i go next fall' board

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / W&L Open House - who's going?
« on: March 11, 2006, 10:15:54 AM »
im lazy, so ill just steal MrRooney's post from the W&M addmitted students day thread:

Hey hey... where are all of my fellow W&L admits?  Who's going to the admitted students day on April 1st?  I'd like to get a list going so we can meet up and get to know each other outside the confines of the planned events.

So, let me know and I'll put together a list.  Also, I thought it would be interesting to collect some information about the group so post responses to these questions too (if you don't mind):

1. Where are you coming from?
2. Do you plan on attending W&L or are you undecided?
3. What other options are you considering?
4. Which weekend are you going? (3/25 or 4/1)

Here's my info:

1. Binghamton, NY (flying to Roanoke airport)
2. Currently my top choice b/c of rank + $$... but im still a bit hessitant b/c i wanted to goto school in a big city, and im a bit prejudiced to the south. hopefully this trip will fix those reservations.
3. waiting to hear back from BU, and Fordham.  (theses are possibilities, but highly unlikely: Michigan-waitlist, U Penn and U Chic - Hold)
4. 4/1 (getting there 3/31)

Here are the lists so far (we'll figure out a meet up place/time later):

magnumalv (maybe)
Roxy (maybe)
