Job Search / 2.9 at a high T2, is biglaw completely out of the question?
« on: December 12, 2008, 12:42:33 PM »
I don't necessarily want to work at a white shoe firm, but making at least 6 figures would be nice.  Is this possible after a 1-yr state clerkship?  I'm a 3L with mostly B's but God-willing this last year I will get some A's in there in classes like bankruptcy and commercial law.  Do firms really look at individual grades or do they consider the whole package?

I go to a high T2, with very average grades.  However, I have a very decent resume working for various US regulatory agencies and SRO's.  So two questions:

1) What are the firms that specialize in those areas?
2) Do I have a shot at any of those firms?

Current Law Students / Can "nice" and "lawyer" coexist?
« on: May 17, 2006, 04:46:26 AM »
I'm a nice guy.  I'm not a pushover, but I tend to take things easy and not hold grudges.  Do I have to be nasty to be a successful lawyer?

Current Law Students / What can I do with a finance degree and JD?
« on: April 23, 2006, 09:43:38 AM »
I have a bachelors in finance and after law school I will have a slightly rarer combination of educations (rather than the old poli-sci/JD).  I was wondering what advantages this offers and what types of jobs look for such people

Current Law Students / Anyone study on the train on your way to classes?
« on: January 29, 2006, 02:06:49 PM »
Next year I may be going to a school that is about an hour and a half by train...

so i was wondering if anyone managed to study on the train ride?  I'll be doing it in the evening part time so it wont be 5 days a week...

Does anyone think it's crazy to live 1.5 hours away from school?
