Law School Admissions / Financial Aid Question
« on: October 01, 2006, 08:27:41 PM »
Hey all, finished my apps today ;D.  Confused about all the financial aid forms, though.  I haven't submitted a single one (except for Berkeley's, I guess, which is a part of the application itself).  Am I supposed to be submitting these now alongside my applications?  Or do I wait until I have actually been accepted?

Are merit-based scholarships doled out even if these forms haven't been submitted?  I assumed they would be, but Duke's form got me thinking.  It says specifically that 'You must submit this form to be considered for scholarship assistance,' and one of the boxes immediately below my personal information is 'I would like to be considered for a scholarship based only on merit; therefore, am not required to complete the remainder of this form.'  That leads me to assume that you wouldn't be considered for merit-based scholarships like the Mordecai unless you mailed this form in.

What do you think?

Law School Admissions / Personal Statement AND Diversity Statement
« on: August 31, 2006, 07:16:09 PM »
Wondering how to deal with schools that do not specifically ask for a diversity statement.  Yale and Stanford, for example, seem to want the personal statement and the diversity statement rolled into one, while other schools like Columbia and Chicago don't even mention diversity when discussing personal statements.  I currently have a personal statement and a completely separate diversity statement.  My original plan was to just send both in to every school, especially because my diversity statement is just one page long and some schools like Yale make it clear to send "whatever additional material" you think will help admission officers make their choice.  I guess my question is if there are there any schools where I should avoid sending in my diversity statement?

Yeah, I've been going through NYU's site and I don't see anything about October 15, not even in their calendar... can anyone post a link or something?  Same with Penn.  Still can't find Cornell's opening date either.

Great info., although are you sure about NYU being Oct 15?  Verifying as we speak...

So how many of you are submitting apps Sept 1? ;)

so TCR for the beauty vs. art question is simply "the best = beautiful," right?
