Title: October LSAT takers: What fee waivers have you received?
Post by: ClashCityRocker on October 28, 2008, 03:14:07 PM
I have Northwestern, Duke, University of Texas, University of Virginia, and UCLA. What else is out there?

UVA for some odd reason.

Thus far, Notre Dame and Temple (both were actually kind of surprises since my LSAT is a bit lower than their median). I'm not sure I will apply to either of them, but it's nice that they thought of me  :P

Illinois, Columbia, Northwestern, Virginia

But I wish I had a Duke, Notre Dame, and Texas to go along with those.

Ok, you caught me. I was just waiting until someone said they had Columbia, so I could grouse about it. [Commence grousing.]

I'm probably not going to use it since I have basically zero chance.

Duke, UVA, University of Texas, Northwestern, Notre Dame, UCLA, William and Mary, University of Illinois, and some other not-so-great schools

UVA, Michigan, Columbia, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan State (offered me full tuition lol), William and Mary, Temple, and University of Illinois (also offered me pretty much full tuition).  They aren't clear defined offers for full tuition, but the email they sent pretty much implied I would get it.

I applied to a bunch of schools before the LSAT.  Wish I would have waited.

For those of you recieving CRS emails, whether fee waivers or simple invites to apply, can you post your stats?

I haven't received anything...I mean nothing at all lol.  I'm wondering if there is a problem or if schools just think that I generally suck  :'(

I didn't think my score was that bad where I wouldn't receive anything.  I checked my authorization and preferences pages, nothing seems out of order.  I haven't even received my customary MILE newsletter (Minorities in Legal Education). What's going on?  :-\

I'm with you Magnifique, and I got them last year when I had a similar score  ???

Magnifique,
Are you sure you authorized LSAC to give out your information to law schools? I got a 172, and have a 3.88, but I think that even significantly lower numbers in either or both of those areas would have yielded some kind of recognition from somewhere. Really, the only thing I can think is that your information isn't being given out. . .

yes, triple check you've selected for your info to be sent out and then check your spam. I didn't have a great score at all last time (or tis time really) and I still got some waivers. Cooley loves everyone.

I've been invited to apply to Phoenix Law and Tulsa University.  Makes me warm on the inside.

I'm pretty sure I got a scholarship to Phoenix law tonight.  And probably to Florida Coastal earlier today.  I know my CRS is on  because I haven't changed it from last year except to readjust the year entering school.  So why haven't I gotten any fee waivers  ???

Ok guys, I'm going to check again otherwise I must be truly lame.  I didn't even get the Phoenix and Florida Coastal emails  :o ???

Also, for what it is worth, I sent out some applications tonight and found some hidden fee waivers.

WUSTL, Vanderbilt, Baylor were all being coy.

Those invites to apply are laughable.  If you want me to consider applying to your random ass school throw in a fee waiver or don't bother e-mailing me.

kthx.

BTW, I received one from Univ. of Virginia and I don't have a stellar LSAT.  I've turned in 10 apps and have yet to obtain the glory of finding a "hidden" fee waiver.  :(

I just got emails for WUSTL and Iowa, but not waivers...  Maybe I have a hidden one from WUSTL?  Doesn't matter, don't really want to go there anyways.

just got WUSTL

So I contact LSAC and told them that I thought that something might be wrong with my account.  They reset something and thus far I've gotten an email waiver from UCLA.  So even though the waiver thing is a toss up and not everyone gets something, if you haven't gotten ANYTHING you may want to check with them.

I know my score is low but it was just weird that I wasn't receiving anything and apparently there was a problem.  Just wanted to let people know.

WUSTL and Vanderbilt emails came today for me so only Baylor is the remaining coy school.

Magnifique,

If your LSN page is accurate, you have a billion fee waivers, why the complaints?

My LSAC fee waiver was denied and I hadn't received anything via CRS, so I started begging...er..um...asking schools for waivers  :-\

Most are need-based... ;)

So how do these "hidden fee waivers" work? How would I know if I had one? Just apply and be pleasantly surprised when they don't request my credit card information?

Pretty much!  You can check and see if you have one by moving your app to the shopping cart where it will calculate your totals (you can do that with out submitting it).

NYU's waiver came to my house in the mail. I only know this because I ask my parents to open all law-school related mail that comes for me.

FYI:  I received a Michigan and Baylor snail mail fee waiver offer by snail mail over the weekend.  Michigan has been reported, but I haven't seen Baylor reported.

Ugh, I wish NYU would send me a fee waiver!!!  USC too, for that matter.

After the October test, I've gotten many of the same fee waivers others have reported: UVA, Northwestern, Georgetown (again), WUSTL.  Previously received Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Michigan, UCLA, Cornell

I got the Minnesota waiver too.  Definitely not applying.  I wish we could trade with people...I really want the W&M waiver.

Minnesota as well.  Sounds like they got love for everyone.  I found the portion of their e-mail about how amazing Minnesota is a bit amusing.

Stetson and Charlotte today.  I also got an invite from South Dakota Law but no waiver.   ???  I haven't checked to see if their application is free to all but who, besides maybe those from the area, would apply without a waiver?

In other news, my Duke need-based waiver was denied.  I guess they follow the same formula as LSAC...I have gotten approved for every other waiver that I have applied to, including the ones with strict requirements like W&M & ND...its like getting a bunch of acceptances and then getting a rejection  :(

USC in the mail. Not sure about Penn because my parents were having literacy problems with the Penn letter.

I think it's safe to say, at this point, the fee waivers are out from most schools...

I'm gotten a boatload and I don't have a stellar LSAT.

Part of me wishes I waited a few weeks before paying for my first round of apps :(  I think many of the schools I rushed apps off to might have given me waivers.  Oh well.

I got one in the mail from Indy-Bloomington.

I'm kinda upset because now I really believe that there may have been something wrong with my CRS because every since I emailed them about it, the waivers have been pouring in.  That means I probably missed out on some of the good ones before it was fixed, not that I would have gotten Columbia or Penn but I probably would have gotten some of the others  :-\

Temple, Marquette, DePaul, SLU, William & Mary. Maybe a few more crap schools that i didn't apply to. I'm sure the one from W & M is just to lower their acceptance percentage considering I only got a 161. It was a pretty painless app so I applied anyway.

Kennedy,

I'm getting waivers from multiple Top 10 schools with an LSAT well below their medians, so I'm thinking I'm getting played also  :-\
