I haven't heard of them contacting anyone's parents yet.

There has already been a little bit of speculation on the requirement, and, personally, I think it's another tool for them to verify parts of your application.  I did put "yes," but I understand your hesitation.  I'm honestly not sure how it would appear, though, so your mileage here will vary.

i really don't think it would count against you if you say no.  you could always call the admissions office and ask.

GW is a super reach for me btw.  It's not like I'm an auto-admit otherwise I wouldn't care.

they won't call.

I agree. Especially since you're married.

I'd think if anything, they'd call the recommenders (if this is the question I'm thinking of, it says may we contact your parents and/or your recommenders).  I'd think the parent contacting thing is either 1) a last resort or 2) for if they are alumni.

but that's just a guess.  I was accepted and they hadn't contacted anyone.

I was also put off by GW's overly nosy and rude application. The best application is Hastings - It's like... include whatever the heck you want.

TITCR. My father and I are not on speaking terms. GW was a top target school for me until I read their bad app.

I guess I was just assuming that if you're married, you're old enough to be non-trad and clearly independent by looking at your birthday, which is on your app. Which is of course not true, as there's a 22 yo in my section who has a wife.

I seem to recall some schools asking for marital status, but perhaps I'm confusing that with finaid stuff.
