Should I put my parents' info on the FAFSA?
« on: January 07, 2008, 09:01:00 PM »
Most, if not all of the schools I'm interested require Need Access, with parental information included.  On the other hand, they're unclear as to providing parent info on the FAFSA.  They never specifically say I need it, so should I just leave it off the FAFSA?

If you're applying for graduate school, the FAFSA considers you an independent, so you don't have to give your parents' info.

I'd check with the individual schools to see if they want your parents' info on the FAFSA or if they'll take it in some other form. It would be in your financial interests to not put your parents on the FAFSA, unless they make very little money.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards not providing it because I don't think it will help, and it's not explicitly required.  Not that I'll be able to hide completely, because I think Need Access will fill in all the gaps.

Thanks for your help.
