I work at a firm as a Case Clerk and have to keep track of my hours.  Definitely the least enjoyable part of my job.  Does anyone have experience with billable hour alternatives?

Really?  That's awful.

I've read a bit about Ford and Harrison (an ATL labor law firm) eliminating billable requirements for first year associates.  The justification is that they have to write off large portions of the time anyway so instead they focus the first year on training.  Seems like an interesting concept but I don't know if it will catch on at other firms.

Does anyone have task/activity code billing?  I do and it *sucks* the worst!!!

I have task and activity codes, but I mostly do the same 2-3 tasks over and over again so it's not a huge deal.

I used to have it for like 30+ cases I worked on interchangeably throughout the day.  Now it's less but it's really bad nonetheless.

I also have this, it is the bane of my existence.  Especially since the task codes are totally geared towards attorney tasks, and the attorneys never tell the paralegals what the hell we're spending two hours making binders FOR.

This is why I'm eternally grateful for the old "file management" task.  It's a life-saver.
