Letter of Intent

Letter of Intent

Is it unorthodox to include a letter of intent as a sort of addendum in an application? For example, say I apply to Yale, Harvard, and Virginia, but include a letter of intent in my Yale application. Is this a recommended/judicious addition, if one has a number one choice?

Honestly the only place it might matter would be UVA do to Yield Protection (YP).  HYS don't have to YP because ANYONE (and I mean anyone) can get rejected at Yale & Stanford.  UVA might be convinced you're going HYSCCN and waitlist you to help their yield rate.  If you included some kind of letter of intent to enroll if admitted it might help.  But it would disingenuous to write such a letter without actually meaning it.
