You could cure cancer in the next two months. That'd get you in for sure.
But seriously, I don't really know if there are any really concrete ways to improve your application significantly at this point. And getting deferred isn't a huge deal, I'm assuming you were ED/EA? Then they just put you into the RD applicant pool. Hopefully your app will compare favorably to them. Anyway good luck, and tough break. It's hard to wait for a long time just to have them tell you to wait some more.
