Marriage and financial aid? Help/Hurt ?
« on: December 16, 2007, 11:52:39 AM »
I was wondering about this too. My fiancee is currently a 2LS, so she would be starting her third year when I start my 1LS. If we decided to get married sooner rather than later, how would this affect my financial aid status?? If we did get married before my 1st year, we would be living apart during that time (until she graduated) so i dont think i could count her as my dependent or she me.

 ???

All of these issues during the application process make for huge tension headaches  :-\

Since you are both full time students, neither one of your incomes will count against the other's financial aid. Being married could actually benefit you b/c some schools increase the standard budget for married students.
