Acceptance trends: December 06 vs. December 07
« on: December 09, 2007, 02:53:28 PM »
Anyone else notice that at this time last year the top 25 schools were a bit more stingy on what LSAT scores they were accepting?  Take HLS for example, the LSAT scores of the approximately 55 accepted applicants this year go a few points lower than the 55 people accepted last year at this time, 12/9/06.

Same thing for Minnesota and Iowa and some of the other schools that admit students early in the process.  Iowa and Minnesota don't have a lot of admitted students at this point, but there are a few that would not have been accepted until Feburary, based on last year's cycle.  Anyone notice a similar trend for other schools?

I've already been accepted to one school that I assumed would not get back to me for at least a couple of months b/c of where I fit on their index.

Last year had a certain new rule that made schools a little extra cautious of their early acceptances until they could get a better grasp of the market.

For Harvard, I think it's just more emphasis on GPA.

what's the rule?

I think it's the highest-LSAT-only thing.

This is what I deduced from looking at the acceptances (to keep myself from crying into my coffee at my lack of TS1 email)

Well, your GPA is plenty high. Harvard used to accept only high GPA people late in the cycle and off the WL, so either it's a total shift in policy, or else they are intending to accept some high LSATs late in the cycle this year.

Well, I meant plenty high enough to be confident for the cycle. The only consolation you need is that you applied so recently. For people complete on the first day, it's a little more bleak.
