URMs at Cornell/ Columbia
« on: December 06, 2007, 12:51:44 AM »
How does Cornell look at URMs for admission?  Do we have any more of an advantage there than at other schools?  It's a place I really like, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience.

I'm asking how much they take URM status into account for admissions.

i've heard people say that columbia weighs it slightly more heavily than its peer schools.  i don't have hard numbers, just what i've heard.

Thanks.

I don't have specifics on URMs and admissions at Cornell/Columbia, but I do know that Harvard graduates more black lawyers than any other Ivy League school.  Cornell does, however, have a tender spot for LGBT applicants.  Its application, along with Penn's, has a check box for LGBT applicants.

I have heard more so than other schools too, but it is hard to determine this. Any statistics would be appreciated.
