Holy work! Is anybody else feeling swamped? How much time should this stuff be taking? What is a "normal" amount of time to study for a class?

Don't worry about how much time you're spending on law school.  I told myself that I wouldn't spend more than 4 hours a day outside of class.  Other than for a few days before finals and when memos were due I was able to stick to that schedule.  Obviously people have different study methods, I was probably the laziest summer starter but I can promise you that grades don't correlate with study time (based on the one grade we've received).  I guess what I'm trying to say is don't get freaked out when people say they spend 10 hours studying a day.  Just do what works for you, there are many paths to getting good grades.

Thanks for all the info, guys. It's useful to get some perspective.

Hope the game result didn't dampen anybody's long weekend too badly!

I think the time I spent was more an indication of how much screwing around I did while trying to study than how dedicated to the material I was.  Hopefully I'll be a little better about that now (though here I am posting on LSD while I'm supposed to be reading my ConLaw book).

Just a sidebar...how's the football team doing?
Happy with your university's $2.5M investment in Rodriguez to buy out his K from WVU?
Looks like it's paying off handsomely... ;D

I'm much more interested in my investment in this legal education.  And so far, I'd say that's paying off handsomely.  :D
I was referring to your intellectual penis. Which is quite robust.

Jolie is creeping up on me.

Do any of you know what the girl who wrote Letters of Marquee is doing now?  On her blog, she frequently repeats how she doesn't want to work at a law firm, but I can't imagine what else she's doing after SCOTUS.

her plan is to become a prof, which she should have no trouble doing.  but i suspect she'll go to a firm for a year or two (it would be hard to pass up that 250k signing bonus).

What is Letters of Marquee? And could somebody offer a link to the blog? A quick google search wasn't terribly fruitful...

Pretty sure it's been taken down and is only available in its cached form (through the Wayback Machine).

It was a blog written by Heidi Bond, a UM law grad who was clerking for O'Connor this past year.

Also, it's Letters of Marque. One e.

What are the odds that Judge Haller comes back to our thread this week?

Congrats on the win. My dish of crow is a bit undercooked...think I'll send it back to the kitchen. :(
I'm still here...yes, we got spanked yesterday by a pretty good team.
But I'd still rather have Coach Stew than Coach Rod...
