but I'm right that the LC doesn't have aircon right?  Or is that just a nasty rumor I heard?

Oh, and any professors to steer clear of?  I know that's a vague question but hey we're all wondering...

Will anyone be commutting from Detroit?  No, I'm not joking.

I wouldn't recommend it.  I know a 1L who lives in Canton, and even that is relatively far.

You could have told me that three years ago when I had no law school plans and bought a house on the east side ;)

I'm looking for a potential commuting partner.  My alternative plan is to rent an apartment with someone and pay my half (or third or whatever) of the rent even though I wont be staying there all the time.  Should work out to be a good deal for the co-lessee(s).

Oops!  ;)  Good luck with finding a commuting partner.  Craigslist or the UM housing site might be your best bet, since most law students live fairly close.  Your alternative plan might be more doable, especially if you just want to rent a room in a private or coop house.

Yup, the LC doesn't have A/C, but that's not uncommon here.

No info about profs to steer clear of, and it wouldn't matter anyway since you have no choice!

If I do end up coming to Michigan (which I almost certainly will), I will be commuting an hour each way from the northeast side.  It will be a lot of driving, but much less than I do now.  I don't think it will be a problem for classes, but social stuff might be an issue.  Either way, I will deal with it.  Kirchner--we should talk about the possibility of at least carpooling occasionally!

Last year there was a list of people who were admitted and people who were going for sure.

that'd be a cool thing to put up on the front of this thread.

The Possum will be there in the summer.

BTW, there's a facebook group for Michigan '11.  However, due to the way that the person who made the group did it, you have to be in the Michigan network to join the group.

I saw a Michgan '11 group, but it seemed to be for undergrads.  Is that the group you are talking about?  I'm starting in the summer, and definitely looking to chat with some summer/fall starters.

For those of you who sent in your deposit, have you heard back from Michigan and/or received  your student ID and password?
I got my password today and set up my umich email.
EDIT: I also already forwarded it to gmail.  I hate non-gmail email.
