I don't see anywhere on the application to include a resume.  How can this be?!

Did anyone include one anyways?

I included it along with the application, anyway.  If they want to look at it, they can; if not, they can disregard it.

I certainly can't imagine them dinging someone just for including a resume.

I think as long as they don't say "don't send one" it's in your best interest to send it, especially if your resume contains information not elsewhere in your application.

But since it doesn't ask for it wouldn't that be like "rule breaking"

I mean, I included the example to show that no, in fact, it does not constitute rule-breaking.  I didn't want to say it in as many words, but I ended up getting into WUSL after I sent them an unsolicited resume.  I sent it to BU as well, though I don't remember if they asked for it or not.

I used to be really against additional materials at this point last year, but after watching people send plenty of extra things I really think that, so long as you aren't annoying about it you can send things that they don't ask for.  A resume now.  A copy of a portion of your thesis in March.  A letter of continuing interest in April ... so long as you aren't sending 6 extra LORs from mid-level department of justice admins that your uncle coaxed into writing letters for you without ever meeting you, you should be ok.
