"report method" for lsdas reports

Seems like it can be either paper or image, according to the little blurb on the account status page:

 Report Method
Paper indicates the school has opted to receive the law school report in paper form. Image
indicates the school has opted to access the PDF image of the law school report that is available to
all US ABA-approved law schools.

Both of the schools (Columbia, Harvard) that have requested reports so far have requested paper. Why would they do that? Is that normal? Wouldn't image be easier?

Most schools have LSAC send them a paper copy of your application with the paper copy of the law school report. That way they have a nice little admissions file all made up for you without going through the hassle of printing anything.

The only school that I'm aware of that uses 'Image' is Chicago.
