I haven't listened to it yet, but wild guess: Epstein says they shouldn't; Sunstein says they should.

If you want to hear Epstein speak, here is a podcast of our FedSoc Sunstein v. Epstein talk on "Should Conservatives Support Obama?" from a few weeks ago:

This is A to the Awesome.

I love it. You guys are not making the purgatory any easier...

For the record, this podcast was deemed TOO HOT FOR THE FACULTY BLOG.  I got an MP3 and upped it to the FedSoc server.  How lascivious.

It was a little more nuanced than that, but you get the idea.

I went to the talk and it was BY FAR the best talk we've had this year IMO. They should have done it during ASW.

I applied to UChicago as an autoreject, but I must say that if I could go to any school possible, I'd be at Chicago.

Sunstein

Sunstein has written something pertaining to everyone's thesis. Seriously.

If you want to ask him something, I'd e-mail him.
I'm posting constructively.

True, although his new appointment at Harvard as director of the Program on Risk Regulation directly pertains to my thesis. I've cited five or six of his articles in my proposal alone.

You're right, though, I should probably just email him.

What kind of accent does Epstein have?

A typical New York Jewish accent

So is anyone on this board actually coming to ASW?

Just as a heads up, you might run into some cranky law students if you do.  The law school is trying a "no internet in classrooms" thing for the quarter, and we're likely to be suffering from pretty severe withdrawals.

That policy seems like a pretty huge turn-off to someone considering the school. Not so much not having the internet, as the school feeling like it should be dictating that to students. Seems kind of counter to the typical chicago attitude of letting people be adults.

No kidding.  One of the things I've always been proud of the school for is the way it treats students like adults: no deposits, no exam taking software, etc.

I agree that this is going to be a huge turn-off for someone considering the school.  I already sent an e-mail to the dean of admissions saying this is going to be a pretty big problem for ASW.
