Bummer.  I blame myself.  If only I had given him one adult-caliber response in Elements, maybe he would have stayed.

At least we'll always have the memories. And the course packet.

Sorry, doesn't seem that way. Check PM.

Can you send that my way as well?

Here's some official confirmation, along with a silver lining:

But the good news (for us Chicago [or Chicago-to-be] folks) is that, as Cass told me, he will be keeping his Chicago apartment and an office at the University of Chicago Law School, and he will also continue teaching part-time at Chicago as the Harry Kalven Visiting Professor of Law (probably in the winter quarters).

Thats a shame about Sunstein, I wonder if U Chicago will be able to use that freed-up money to poach a younger big name from somewhere else.   As a quick question, do any people order any meal plans from any of the cafeterias, or would you recommend just cooking/eating out?

I don't know of anyone on a meal plan, but if they are they probably live in New Grad (the graduate dorms).

I wouldn't recommend being on the meal plan - there are a ton of free meals in the law school (yeah lunches!) and there isn't a law school community eating together in the cafeteria (unlike there was in undergrad).

It sounds so reasonable when you say it.

One other random question, do you know if they allow dogs at Regents and/or would you have time as a Chicago student to take care of one?

They do, but I hear only in South Tower (most law students live in North Tower) and only on certain floors which are all pet friendly (every apartment on that floor, I mean).

I'll be headed to Chicago this Fall as a 1L.

Any speculation or rumors as to who will likely be taking CS's half of Elements?

I'm really curious about that too. Sunstein (and Strauss for that matter) have been teaching that class for almost 15 years. I wonder what the criteria for teaching a class like that would be... probably a wide academic focus... obviously an energetic approach in the classroom... I don't really know who qualifies. Gersen?
