Message from Ron Paul

Dear friend,

Our American way of life is under attack. And it is up to us to save it.

The world's elites are busy forming a North American Union. If they succeed, as they did in forming the European Union, the good ol' USA will only be a memory. We cannot let that happen.

The UN wants to confiscate our firearms and impose a global tax. The UN elites want to control the oceans with the Law of the Sea Treaty. And they want to use our military to police the world.

Our right to own and use property is fading because bureaucrats and special interests are abusing eminent domain.

Our right to educate our children as we choose is under assault. "No Child Left Behind" is seeing to that. And our right to say "no" to forced mental screening of our school-aged children is nearly gone.

The elites gave us a national ID card. They also gave us the most misnamed legislation in history: The Patriot Act. And these same people are pushing to give amnesty to illegal immigrants and erase our national borders.

Record government debt is putting a burden on our children and grandchildren that is shameful.

Yes. Our American way of life is under attack. And it's understandable that many are concerned, even discouraged, about the kind of country our children and grandchildren will inherit.

But we must never let discouragement become surrender.

One reason I am NOT discouraged is because I know I am not fighting alone. Each day I head out I know that you and thousands of other patriotic, freedom-loving Americans are right beside me, standing brave and true for what is good and right.

The other day, my old sparring partner in so many Congressional committee hearings, Alan Greenspan, was on the Fox Business Channel. After Alan promoted his new book, the reporter asked if we really needed a central bank. Greenspan looked stunned, and then said that was a good question; he actually talked about fiat money vs. a gold standard. Now, the ex-Fed chairman is not about to endorse our sound monetary policy, but you know our Revolution is working when such a question is asked in the mainstream media, and this powerful man gives such an answer.

You and I are reopening a whole host of questions that the establishment thought it had closed off forever: on war, on taxes and spending, on inflation and gold, and on the rule of law and our Constitution.

A few years ago, I asked a famous conservative columnist a question. What did he think about the prospects for a restored Robert Taft wing of the Republican party? He thought I was joking. As you know, I was not.

After all the aggressive wars, the assaults on our privacy and civil liberties, the oppressive taxation, and the crazed spending and deficits, I believe that many Republican voters are ready to return to our roots. And the big boys feel it too. It is no coincidence that the Republican National Committee invited me to a fundraising dinner involving only "top-tier candidates."

Some of the opposition claims that I am not a "real Republican," whereas I am the only one in the race. And our campaign is registering new Republican voters by the boatload. None of my opponents is doing anything approaching that.

Of course, they pooh-pooh our success. "He's just registering Democrats and Independents and people who have never voted before." Well, yes. It's called growth. We are laying the groundwork for the primaries.

All over America, our support is wide and deep and growing, and young people are joining like never before. After the Dearborn debate, I went to the University of Michigan for a rally. 2,000 students turned out, something that has happened to no other candidate this year.

The crowd cheered all our ideas, but especially our opposition to the Federal Reserve, and our support for real money of gold and silver, as the Constitution mandates, instead of prosperity-wrecking fiat money. American politics hasn't seen anything like this in many decades. It is truly revolutionary.

But time is getting short. We must do massive radio and TV advertising, open many small offices (three in just South Carolina the other day), staff them, pay all the bills, and turn out our vote with massive organizational and phone-bank efforts.

As you know, the blackout is ending; our campaign is starting to get mainstream media attention, thanks to growing donations and volunteers. And contributions are the key to more attention, and to our being able to do the actual work of victory. Good news: our recent green-eyeshade analysis of all the candidates' net finances, which got so much press attention, shows our campaign as one of only three in the top-tier.

But we must keep moving up, and the Iowa caucuses are now on January 3rd. The New Hampshire primary may be in early December!

SPARKS, Nev. – Ron Paul won the GOP presidential straw poll conducted by organizers at the Conservative Leadership Conference held at the Nugget Casino this weekend "by a large margin," according to an organizer.

Paul won with 33 percent, Romney came in second with 16 percent and Duncan Hunter was just behind with 15 percent. "Undecided" was fourth with 11 percent, and Thompson and Giuliani were next and ahead of the rest of the pack -- all in single digits. Raw numbers haven't been provided, but there were approximately 430 registrants at the opening of the conference.

Although many of the Republican presidential teams had surrogates representing them at the conference, Mitt Romney and Duncan Hunter were the only candidates to speak at the conference, and the victor himself was not there.

Oregon Republicans got a wake-up call when their straw poll at the Portland World Trade Center was transformed into a Ron Paul rally, and his supporters crushed the opposition in the poll.

About 100 Paul supporters brought signs and banners, waved at traffic and pedestrians for blocks around the center, handed out literature and ended up putting Ron Paul in the winner's seat with 67 percent of the vote. Other candidates couldn't generate enough enthusiasm to get anyone at all to come out with any visible support.

Instead of ignoring or opposing Paul's efforts as they have done to date, the Republican Party leadership should be asking themselves what it is about this man that brings so many people out of their comfortable homes and hobbies to volunteer to campaign for him when other politicians are looked upon as something nasty that got on their shoe.

It is pretty easy just to dismiss the man as crazy, but I would like to hear why you think he is crazy.

I have been researching him as well as other candidates and haven't found any bad things written about him..  Most people on the net seem to be all for him.. Rightly so, because his campaign platform is the Constitution.

I agree with a lot of RP's positions, making him - in my opinion - a great philosopher and conservative/libertarian thinker.  But he would be a horrible President.

He is completely divorced from the reality of implementing his ideas.  Absolutely nothing would get done except through congressional override of presidential veto, which would happen often.  When he disbands most government agencies and puts millions of people out of work, causes a genocide in Iraq, bankrupts the federal gov, and watches the stock market crash, well...at least he strictly followed the constitution, right?

What makes you think that he doesn't know how to implement his ideas?  He sounds like he has a better more thought out plan than the other candidates. 

Well when you have the option of getting something done but that something is something wrong or bad, then I would opt for the getting nothing done option.  Not saying that he would get nothing done, but I don't think that he will have free reign.  Wth a the current congress, it might not be easy to implement some of his solutions, but if he does well on other things he can control then maybe the American people will vote in a congress that will help him a little.

How would he bankrupt the Fed. Govt.?  The number one expense for an employer is their labor costs.. if you cut that then that is a major lump of your costs... He doesn't want to cut out these agencies totally, he wants to downsize.  He feels that they have gotten too large and do not work efficiently and effectively.  Think about it, he might be right.  He is 71 years old and has been in politics for many more years than you or I.  He strikes me as being someone that hasn't fallen prey to special interests like most every other politician.

Plus Iraq is already pretty messed up, to stabilize Iraq we would have to reinstate the draft, or maybe inlist the help of the rest of the world.  The country is HUGE and with open borders with IRAN, SYRIA, TURKEY, and SAUDI ARABIA securing Iraq is an endless task.  With a constant stream of people entering Iraq to oust us... think about it.  The border between Iran and Iraq is so mountainous that it would be next to impossible to secure this border alone... Look up a map of the middle east and you will see.

I think that no matter what we do in Iraq nothing will help..  So what should we do.. stay and continue to get our OWN American citizens killed.. or leave and what ever happens happens.. The current Pres. started this, for what I am sure he thought was a good reason.  But now we are here today.. and need to do something and I opt for that something to be to save American lives above other lives.

The only way to secure Iraq is to make it into a Police State, with EVERY border tightly secured.  This is impossible.  Without a billion soldiers and a cost that you cannot even imagine, and that 300 million population of America cannot support.

Before calling someone "nucking futs" or "crazy" please do some research and at least try to bring out the truth.  I seek the truth about everything, I always have my mind and ears open to new possibilities. 

Remember in a time of great deceit, the truth is revolutionary. Or crazy etc.
