160+ to a 170+
« on: September 26, 2004, 12:19:30 AM »
I'm new to the board. I'm scoring between a 163-168 on the practice exams. I need to get a 170+ on the actual exam. As a junior, I won't need to take the exam until June so I have plenty of time to study. Are there any tips for a person that knows the basics, but needs to move up nonetheless.

I was told there were a number of high scorers on this board. None have any advice or could point me to a relevant thread with advice?

Leviathan,
The best advice that I can give you is to read back through posts on the studying for the lsat board.  The general topic of lsat score improvement all the way up to very detailed suggestions, explanations, recommendations have all been discussed.  There is a wealth of information on prep courses, books, study methods, study schedules, etc. within the past few months of posts.  Take some time to read through all of the older posts and you will find some great suggestions.  People sometimes get tired of reposting their advice when they have done so several times in the past:)  Good luck!

I've got the logical reasoning bible and the logic games bible. Logic games are my worst; I average between 12-15 right per section. The other sections I average 22/25 right. Its not my time because I can get through the games...but i get them wrong obviously. If I can raise my logic games score then i'm probably going to be in the range i need to be.

Sounds like you have the right plan.  I just think you need more practice on the games, I would just continue to do as many as possible, that is what I did.

If you could get the games down, you'd be set. However, I'd hold off on studying all the games untill a little closer to June.... don't want to run out you know.
