I feel your pain. I'm going to probably have to have 2 out of 3 of my LORs resent (faxed this time, I do believe). In addition, someone else's LOR somehow got mistakenly attached to my file, as I just received a letter in the mail yesterday about their LOR.

So... if your LOR is lost, it could have easily ended up with someone else. Fun fun.  :-\

The LOR processing time is still very fast.  My prof sent one in on monday and it was processed on friday!!!
