In other cultures, its normal to live with your parents until you marry.

Then ... they move in with you and expect to be supported for life, my wife is Filipino.

So is my Girl Friend!! What a beautiful race!!!

Yes, they are, but the cultural issues drive me nuts.  Although, we've been married for over a decade, I still cannot understand nor accept the subservient role women are expected to play.  My wive is an Dr and her father, a janitor, is expect to defer to him...  while we support them.  Oh well, it's worth it in the end.

That is love! I could not handle my potential mother-in-law for more than a week. Then again, I feel the same way about my own.

She grew up with her mom being the servant in the marraige: cook, clean etc. When she moved in with me she basically said that she would do the same because that is what she knows. However, I think she has been americanized. Which is fine with me because I think relationships can be healthy only if it is equal. Her parents are now well off. So I dont see them moving in anytime soon. Thank God!! Her mom is a little too controlling.

I bet they love the fact that you are planning to be a lawyer...  Education is very important to Filipinos.

Although she hears it daily, I will remind my wife how great I am, again!!

Im the first boyfriend she has liked. It took her 3 months to tell her about me, another 3 months until I met the family and 3 months later she told her mom she was moving to south florida to live with me. Her mom was livid. But somehow her mom still likes me. Yes they love education but more importantly money.

The last guy her mom tried to set her sister up with was the heir to millions. It wasnt until a couple of months later that they found out he was the heir to a porn empire.
