Recommender's position.

Some applications ask for a recommender's position, dos II just state, "Professor of English," or something like that, or do I need to give a rank, i.e.: "Associate Professor of English?"

I would give rank. Technically, someone who is an assistant or associate professor should really not be listed simply as 'Professor of English', etc.

i hate to sound pretentious, but one of the professors writing my LOR has a 14-word title, something like john and elizabeth adams bryce-jones distinguished teaching professor of philosophy and the humanties (slightly changed).  would i sound pretentious to the admission office if i write down the entire thing?
