External monitor to use with docking station?

Hey all-

There seem to be some pretty knowledgeable and frugal technology people heading off to law school...

I'm going to be using a 12.1" laptop in class with a docking station.  I'm looking for a reasonably priced, reasonably high quality monitor which is reasonably large.  Any suggestions?  I like widescreens, but anything larger than 12.1" is going to be really useful!  Thanks a ton for any advice.
