Recommendation from your company's lawyer?

Has anyone ever asked for a LOR from an attorney your company works with?  I've worked with this attorney (partner in BIGLAW) and her associates for a couple years.  I'm not sure if it's kosher to ask for a LOR from her though, because I'm afraid the Admissions Committee might just say "it can't be a sincere recommendation if this applicant is the attorney's client." What do you think?

I'll take pity on you.

You aren't the client, your company is - and you're just an underling.  So I doubt if the attorney could curry any favor by helping you nor would they loose business by saying no.  That being said, can this attorney speak to your work ethic, your knack for the law, your enthusiasm for your job, your drive, dedication, etc...  Can this attorney say  "Ms. linquest would benefit greatly from a law degreee.  It would be a natural progression of her already stellar career and allow her to take the next step in her career path yada, yada, yada"  If the answers are 'yes' then by all means ask.
