Worth applying to HYS?
« on: June 30, 2007, 03:28:14 PM »
I have a 3.65 (nice upward trend) and a 170 LSAT. Given that I haven't cured cancer and I'm not a URM, is it worth it to apply to HYS? Based on LSN, it seems like it'd be just throwing away the application cost.

....,,.,

Very little chance, but for me, I would be willing to waste the 200 bucks.  Why not retake in September?

u can retake as bosco said, but i think your bigger bar is the gpa and not the lsat...personally, u have a shot...granted it's a slim shot, but a shot nonetheless...shoot out the apps...worst thing that happens u "waste" $200 (such a small drop in the $150k you're going to be spending in the next 3 years it's not even funny)...if u get in, totally worth it...but if you don't apply at all, u may be thinking "what if" the rest of your life because of $200...

Well I was only getting 169-173 on practice tests so I don't think it's worth all the agony to take again just to likely get approximately the same score. I'm not desperate to get into HYS, I was just wondering if it's realistically worth the money since it'd be hard to pass up if I did. As long as I end up somewhere in the T14, I think I'd be perfectly happy and wouldn't dwell on the question of whether I could've gotten into HYS.

apply...but i think that your whole application package has to be TIGHT...and you should apply early.

Same question, basically...

1.) URM (black male)
2.) LSDAS GPA ~2.9 (3.72 over last 4 years)
3.) LSAT 175

Is it worth it to even try for HYS with that GPA?

you have a good chance at H, not at YS.

In a similar situation, so I had to join the party:

3.66 GPA 163/176 LSATs
I'm Hispanic (non-mexican/pr) if that matters...

Any thoughts on HYS?

you have a good shot at H, maybe not at YS...apply though if those are your top choices and you can afford it.

If I do end up as NYU '11, it'll be after a long and hard decision process. I hate New York City and most urban environments but it'd be hard to pass up the prestige and being close to home.
