What if you do not answer your phone when a school calls you?

I have heard stories of schools calling applicants that they are planning to accept off the waitlist and if the applicant does not pick up they will call someone else. Is that true?

Newkirk - how would you know if they called and didn't leave a message?

Several people have said they've been left messages and to call back, so I wouldn't worry too much. MP probably has a point even if it looked like a joke though. You don't want some lame-ass answering message when Toby is calling you :) Just like you'd avoid using your hugewiener84@hotmail.com email on your applications. At least, I hope you did!

A couple of schools actually devote a question in their waitlist FAQs to this.  (University of Michigan is a school that lists what it does, I believe.)

Anyway, typically they leave a message (or e-mail instead) and if they do not hear from you they will mail you something.
