Nice people, if somewhat clannish

clannish or klanish?

/not flaming. curious

As a black guy from Kentucky, I can say the vast majority of people there aren't racist.  In fact, a white person from Louisville probably personally knows more black people than a white person from a supposedly more enlightened city like LA.

ive heard that about Lville

sounds great!

Yeah, Cincy has a TERRIBLE race relations problem.  When I was in high school our trip to the Cincy Art Museum had to be cancelled because of race riots.

Speaking from personal experience, Louisville is a very cool city. Not hickish at all and race relations seem to be great. Lots of things to do but not overly congested compared with some larger cities. I wouldn't really consider Louisville "the south." Kentucky as a whole is considered the northern south and Louisville is in the northern part of the state. You will still get to experience some southern hospitality though.

Race problems in Cincinnati really aren't much different from most midwestern cities. Better than a lot, sadly.
