my roommate works for an attorney who is basically a legal consultant.  he gives legal advice, files stuff, and does arbitration, but he doesn't go to trial or get involved in other very time consuming projects.  so my roomie does research, writes memos, and goes to the courthouse to file stuff.  it sounds pretty cool.  i'd like to be able to mix it up.

one of the kids in the civil clinic does all sorts of stuff.  he meets with clients, is on the phone a good portion of the day, and does research.  i think i would like that.  (even though he says the phone stuff is obnoxious sometimes)  i just do research all day.

Well the friend I have who worked at a small firm up north made the same as me so I don't know that it makes all that much of a difference if you aren't in an extremely high end area. Smaller firms don't have a lot to spend, typically.

I only make about $10/hr, but my summer class was paid for and that was over $5500.

i wonder what summer interns and firms (small, mid, and large) get paid compared to paralegals at those same firms. that might be interesting to look at.

I think some of the big firms pay $2500/week.

I dont know how much paralegals make, but I would imagine the difference is substantial.

I would also imagine that the difference becomes smaller in the smaller firms.
