now i have to decide if i want to go buy a timer.  thinking about getting one of those kitchen ones, thatd show em!

do you mean like a new analog watch? Because as far as the restrictions on timers go, we're only allowed an analog watch, not an analog timer...

Buy an analog chronograph watch (i.e., has a stop watch function), I've been using one and it's been helping me tons.  And it's a wristwatch so I doubt you'll have any issues with the procters.  Mine has separate hands for mins, secs and even fractions of second.  You can pick them up for under $100, try Nike, that's where my GF got me mine.
