I'm planning on taking 1 to 3 years off before law school (my last grasp at having an enjoyable life for a several years ), and I was wondering what people did ... besides become paralegals.

Honestly, if I had all the money in the world I would take dance classes and just dance, but that whole needing to pay bills/not live under the 10 freeway limits that. 

'Round here you can take a month of dance classes for less than $45. Call around!

Paralegal/debt collector (okay, they're not the same, but at my job they are).  REAL good examples on what not to do with your finances abound daily. 

Part-time figure skating coach (while competing at Adult Nationals in my free time. . .I got a bronze and silver.  Pretty cool!) and research assistant for a professor writing a book on one of the most obscure topics known to man. 

Over the summer, I'll be a babysitter to give myself a mental break from it all.

Heh.  Not the way I'll be doing it.  One of the kids will be skating and/or at the rink for about 6 of the 8 hours each day.  The other kid will be off at camp (dropped off in the morning and I pick up in the afternoon).  On the rare days they have off, we'll be going to amusement parks and movies. 

Of course, if I were babysitting a 3 year old and a 6 month old, well, I actually wouldn't be choosing to babysit at all.  If they can't be reasoned with, I don't want anything to do with them (aka can't handle them!)
